i got these in black but would love too see them in leather.. Tan leather hahaha.. (just hopping)

Great shoe but I have some questions

I received my Favelas yesterday and they are awesome. I wore them for the first time today at school and around the town. When I took them off I noticed that the stretchy top of the shoes were already fraying and strings of elastic were coming out near the top of this area. Is this normal? I don't know if it is a defective pari but I could use some help. Thanks.
